The Joyce Theater releases its season brochure bi-annually, and each year with a different look. For several years I had the opportunity to ideate and design the brochures, which are probably the most important piece of communication for the Joyce. The range of different designs varied from exploring colorful and rhythmic, layered typographic treatments, to design elements adopted from the theater’s architectural details, to contrasting color treatments. Each idea and visual treatment works to emphasize the form of the dancers, and further reveal the beautiful and astonishing moves. The result was a bold and vibrant set of brochures, reflecting the physicality and grace of The Joyce Theater’s celebrated Dance performances.
